The Good Policy Institute Fellowship Program will conduct a contest. The contest aims to solve the problem of low civic power of high school students. As a professor of policy in NYU’s school of social work, I see first hand how when educated and provided resources young people come up with the most brilliant policy solutions. The do not have the calcification adults have and can better imagine a new world that includes equity.
The scholars will explore the multifaceted aspects of environmental justice, with a particular focus on three areas of the social environment, race equity, land rights, and mental health care. By addressing these issues, we can create linkages of intersectionality and how race equity can be a goal through environmental justice. These presentations will be shared on all board members and participant social media and will foster a more inclusive and sustainable future where more have equal access to a healthy environment and the resources necessary for well-being. Participants are encouraged to analyze the complexities of these topics and propose innovative solutions that promote environmental justice and social equity.
